Welcome to Sebastian Catholic Cathedral About Us

Welcome to the Place of Worship

History has it that the Catholic Church arrived in Ijebu Ode in 1911. The faith had actually been brought from Esure by the late Chief Madasa Ignatius Washington Osilaja of Ijebu Ode. The First Church was built in 1911 and was then St. Sebastian Catholic Church and later turned to St. Sebastian Catholic cathedral at the creation of the Diocese of Ijebu Ode in 1969 by Pope Paul VI with late Most rev. Anthony Saliu Sanusi as its first Bishop followed by Most Rev (Dr) Albert Ayinde Fasina in 1990 as the second and Most Rev (Dr) Francis Adesina as the third and current Bishop of the diocese.

Welcome Address

Very Rev. Fr. Albert IGBODIPE

Cathedral Administrator

I welcome you in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ to the official website of our Family of Faith, St. Sebastian Catholic Cathedral, Odo- Egbo, Ijebu Ode, Ogun state, Nigeria.
Our family of Faith has grown over the years and many of our initial members have moved to other Parishes carved out from the cathedral Parish. So far, we can boast of St. Timothy, Degun, St. Anthony, Imepe, Our Lady of Assumption, Oke Owa, and Sacred Heart, kajola. However, our initial members in these parishes still consider St. Sebastian Cathedral as their home and maintain their ties to the Parish societies and events such as harvest, patron feast day and others.

For those who still worship at the Cathedral, the number is growing day by day and there is

then a need for us to stay in touch all the time and carry everyone along in the Parish pastoral life and activities hence, we have to tap into the cyber technology to reach out to our members and friends and this forms the reason for this website.
We thank all those who have worked tirelessly to ensure the completion of this project through their generosity to time, talents, resources and information.
I pray that the Lord Jesus will continue to keep us together in His community of faith and through the powerful intercession of our patron, St. Sebastian, martyr, we may remain faithful to Christ and His Church to the end and have heaven as our reward.
